CITY OF WESTLAKE, FL – (November 14, 2024) — The building boom taking place in Florida’s fastest-growing city has hit a new milestone. The City of Westlake has issued 3,315 residential building permits and 2,975 certificates of occupancy since October 2017, when Minto Communities - the city’s largest landowner - started developing the 3,800-acre Westlake master-planned community. The building figures are calculated through October 31, 2024.

The Pines and The Woodlands are two single-family neighborhoods offering homes from the Cypress and Indigo Collections of single-family homes and the Atlantic Collection of estate homes, starting in the mid-$400s. Minto offers 11 furnished model homes for touring.

In another move to address affordability, the City of Westlake revamped its Housing Assistance Purchase Program Yearly program, known as HAPPY, that provides first-time homebuyers and civil servants with down payment assistance. A family with a household income up to $300,000 can qualify for $25,000 to $35,000 for a down payment on a house that costs no more than $568,577.

All homeowners have access to the exciting amenities found at the Westlake Adventure Park. The $22 million park features a resort-style lagoon pool with a tower slide, splash pad, and poolside concessions; a separate adult lap pool; a multipurpose building with adjoining event lawn; a covered concert pavilion, food truck court, and picnic areas; BMX pump park, bocce ball courts, playground, dog park, and full-length, lighted basketball courts.

Conceived to be the “New Downtown” for Central Palm Beach County, Westlake is a lifestyle-focused, mixed-use community encompassing 3,800 acres with the capacity for 6,500 homes and 2.2 million square feet of retail, restaurant, office, and other commercial development. 

On the commercial side, a new Starbucks, Taco Bell, KFC and Orangetheory Fitness recently opened in the Shoppes of Westlake which should be fully built out in the coming months. Other retailers and restaurants to open include Habit Burger, 3 Natives, Heartland Dental, Verizon Wireless, and Go Green Cleaners. Publix, which opened a grocery store in Westlake in 2023, has started constructing a new retail center on adjacent land, phase two of its approved development plan. Construction will start soon on a new Tractor Supply Co. store giving residents a new place to shop for home, garden, and pet supplies.
