GETTYSBURG, PA, August 15, 2024 – This past Independence Day, the Veterans Club at Amblebrook at Gettysburg, an award-winning, resort-style 55+ community, hosted a community barbecue raffle and fundraiser. The event was attended by approximately 250 Amblebrook residents and featured delicious food, live music from Amblebrook’s resident band the AmbleBand, and a raffle where 43 sponsors donated prizes for charity.

The event was a tremendous success, with $3,320 raised and donated to Roots for Boots, a local organization that supports the needs of military heroes and their families with monthly food banks and specialized items to assist disabled Veterans. This week, Roots for Boots founder and CEO Christy Lucas accepted the $3,320 check from the Veterans Club at an event held at Amblebrook.

“The huge showing of Amblebrook residents and local business sponsors that came together to make this event happen—from the raffle sponsors and barbecue menu sponsors to the Veterans Club members who volunteered 700 hours of their time—is a testament to the Gettysburg community and its generosity,” said Sara Carbonell, Director of Marketing for Crown Community Development. “We’re lucky to have a local community that is able to come together like this for those in need.”
