Did you know Tellico Village is the town that has the most veterans in all of Tennessee? Nearly a quarter of the people who live there have served in the military.
Ahead of Veterans Day we have a Tellico Village veteran who earned the Silver Star Medal. Army Lieutenant Colonel Grail Brookshire was awarded this honor for his valor in combat during the Vietnam War. Brookshire, and his wife, have lived in Tellico Village for 22 years.
Retired Naval Aviator Shawn Tallant is the Tellico Village VFW Post Commander, who's lived at the Village for two years. He loves to lead volunteer work through the VFW.
What: The Tellico Village VFW will host a Veterans Day Commemoration to honor all who served. There will be a presentation of colors, keynote speaker, flag-folding demonstration, recognition of veterans from all eras and more.
Who: The event is free and open to the public to honor United States veterans
