Hernando, FL -- The Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) has chosen Skyview at Terra Vista as the venue for some exciting premiere play. The two FSGA tournaments will be held the first two weekends in March – the Florida Junior Tour (FJT) Skyview Open and the Senior/Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship – with registration open now for golfers.
OF NOTE: Skyview at Terra Vista will be closed and private for the duration of these tournaments, but members will have full access as spectators throughout each of these events.
The FJT Skyview Open on Saturday, March 5th, and Sunday, March 6th, invites amateur junior golfers age 16-18 to play 36 holes of individual gross stroke play competitively with some of the state’s most accomplished junior golfers. The Florida Junior Tour is the premier championship for junior golfers in the Southeastern U.S.
The following weekend, the Senior/Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship comes to Skyview Saturday, March 12th, and Sunday, March 13th. The 36-hole tournament of four-ball gross stroke play welcomes mid-amateur players age 25-54 and senior players age 55 and older. The Senior/Mid-Amateur Four-Ball is a popular event, crossing two age divisions, allowing players to team up with someone they likely would not play within other events. After 18 holes, the number of flights will be based on the number of teams and/or the range of scores.
The Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) was formed in 1913 to promote, protect, and preserve the game of golf. They conduct more than 650 tournament days each year, including 38 state championships and over 45 days of USGA qualifying events, as well as perform more course ratings each year than any other organization in the country. The organization is made up of over 500 volunteers who serve as tournament officials and course rating experts and who assist junior and amateur golfers in their local areas.
The Association awards college scholarships, and in conjunction with the Florida Golf License Plate Fund, provides more than $700,000 in grants per year for First Tee programs and local junior golf programs.
