Waterfront community launches new neighborhood; opens events lawn, fitness facility, and guard house; and undergoes construction of new scenic parkway and Marina Village
Richmond Hill, Ga. (July 11, 2018) – Waterways, a 2,300-acre master-planned community in South Bryan County, continues its major neighborhood expansion.
Central to Waterways’ development philosophy is interconnectivity by water and nature. To that end, the premier Marina Village area of Waterways is now undergoing initial phases of construction and planning. Once developed, Marina Village will feature a drystack storage facility with up to 200 dryslips for boats up to 35 feet, and an impressive collection of buildings and amenities built to complement the beautiful natural landscape of marsh frontage. Cottenham Exchange will feature 15,000 square feet of community space for fitness, retail and community sales. Here, Waterways plans for four pools spanning 9,000 square feet and state-of-the-art fitness opportunities amongst panoramic views of marshes and ancient oaks. With plans for a snack bar, general store, kids zone, and casual retail (perhaps a coffee shop or ice cream shop), Cottenham Exchange will be the perfect place to enjoy the unique soul of Waterways. Another building at Marina Village, Marina House, is planned to feature a bar, delectable dining options, and a place to sit and catch up on the news of the day with neighbors.
For the past several months, significant earth moving construction was active as the infrastructure for Marina Village was laid. Simultaneously, Waterways has created a scenic parkway, a picturesque road with impressive water views that will connect the community entryway to Marina Village. Multiple expansive bridges have been built as part of this scenic parkway, and the road will be paved and drivable by Fall 2018. Waterways anticipates that Waterways Marina will be fully operational in 2019.
“Our scenic parkway is more than a road... it’s an experience,” says Developer and CEO Doug Davis. “We could not be more excited to share the unspeakable beauty of our freshwater lagoon system with residents and visitors as they make their way to our future Marina.”
Other newly available community features include a new guard house and fitness facility. The guard house features classic low country architecture with white painted brick exterior, slate roofing, gas lanterns, and the most state-of-the-art resident access and visitor management technology. The new fitness facility features a fine selection of cardio equipment and open space for wellness classes.
Also new for residents is the Events Lawn, a community greenspace in Ridgewood Park, which opened just in time for summer. The lawn features a grassy amphitheater and is the perfect setting for movie nights under the stars and concerts in the park. It also features several passive amenities such bocce ball, basketball and grass volleyball. The official ribbon cutting for the events lawn took place at the Waterways Summer Kick Off Concert on Saturday, June 9.
“The heart of Waterways is its residents, and it was my pleasure to see and experience Waterways come to life at this ribbon cutting event,” says Davis.
Homesites in Waterways’ newest residential neighborhood, Lakewood, will be released this summer. Lakewood will feature waterfront, wooded, and preserve homesites for low country cottage style homes, all with easy access to the community’s freshwater lake, Grand Lagoon. Lakewood will also feature a waterfront pavilion and a place to launch a kayak or canoe.
