Aiken, SC (April 12, 2016) - We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of three new restaurants in the Village at Woodside, along with a series of exciting events worth planning your first Aiken adventure around! Roma Italian Restaurant, Ridgecrest Coffee Bar and Mezza Luna Artisan Bakery are the latest restaurants to open in The Village at Woodside. These are three exceptional locally-owned eateries, and they are a perfect representation of the charm, taste, and Southern spirit that captured the attention of the Southern Living Inspired Communities program.
Roma Italian Restaurant, which opened Wednesday, March 30, is owned and operated by Pasquale “Pat” Brancaccio, originally from Naples, Italy. Pat has lived in the US for many years, cooking in New York and in Florida before calling Aiken his home. Though he began his career as a baker, his love of Italian food eventually led him to becoming a chef focused on bringing the joys of authentic Neapolitan cuisine to the citizens of Aiken. His new Village location is beautifully decorated, and quickly converts his guests from customers to regulars.
Ridgecrest Coffee Bar and Mezza Luna Artisan Bakery are owned by Aiken locals Melanie Bortmas and Samantha Zappa, respectively. Construction is now complete on their new Village locations, and we look forward to the grand opening for these two new businesses in mid-May. Both Ridgecrest and Mezza Luna will each share the same warm, welcoming atmosphere and unique, enjoyable dining experience that have made both Roma Italian Restaurant and AnShu Asian Café so popular among locals.
Woodside is also pleased to announce its partnership with the first Aiken film institute, Southern City. Southern City will be hosting its first annual film festival in Aiken this fall, and has chosen The Village at Woodside as its official venue for its summer movie series, Southern Nights! These events will raise funds and awareness for Southern City, but will also be a series of family-friendly outings unlike any other to come to Aiken. While there will be games, live entertainment, food trucks and vendors, the highlight of these events will be four movies under the stars on the largest film screen to ever come to Aiken- even larger than those presently at our Regal Cinema theater!
We are extremely proud to welcome our newest eateries and bring events like Southern Nights to both Woodside residents and the Aiken community.
