Connestee Falls

William Blake once opined that "great things are done when [people] and mountains meet." He could easily and understandably have said that while gazing at one of the many beautiful mountain vistas within the Connestee Falls property. Then there are the five lakes - each with forest and mountain views. Many days one will see small sailboats or electric-powered pontoon boats out on the lakes - or residents along the lake shores catching fish in the well-stocked waters - or families enjoying a swim in the cool lake waters on a warm summer day. My wife and I have owned a home here since 2007. We have met many wonderful people and are involved in several volunteer activities. Additionally, I play golf on our lovely and challenging mountain course, tennis, and pickle ball. We also have about 15 miles of trails within the development, all built by volunteers under the watchful eye of experienced trail builders, nearly all of which I have hiked at one time or another. The Club is nestled within the woods near the 18th hole of the golf course. The food is delicious and the staff there are attentive and committed to providing delicious entrees, sandwiches, desserts and a variety of beverages, all with good service and a smile. As if the activities and amenities at Connestee Falls weren't enough, we are also blessed to have both Brevard College and the Brevard Music Center a mere 15 minute drive away and located in the quaint village-like town of Brevard. For variety, we can drive to nearby Hendersonville for dinner at one of its many fabulous restaurants or to Flat Rock with its famous playhouse that features wonderful and entertaining plays, musicals, and music performances.

We picked Connestee Falls for the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountain view outside our living room windows and for the wonderful cooler temperatures in the summer, unlike our winter home in FL. We love going to the Brevard Music Center (Keith Lockhart of the Boston Pops is Music Director) during the summer months for world-class music, and in the Fall to the Mountain Song Festival, headlined this year by the 2013 Grammy Award winning local bluegrass band, the Steep Canyon Rangers. When we left D.C., we thought we had left top-notch music behind, but we have found that we have it right here in both of these summer music festivals! Connestee Falls' lakes are so beautiful and open to everyone to use for swimming, picnicking, fishing, or boating, even if you don't live on one of the lakes. Best of all is the active lifestyle of Connestee Falls. It is so much more than a golf community, and we have made life-long friends here. Our FL neighbors now rent a home here in the summer to escape the FL heat and absolutely love the friendly atmosphere that we found so welcoming when we arrived.
